Need an opinion from all you experts...
I'm sure this question has been asked in another thread before. If so feel free to post a link, I don't want to waste anyones time.
I'm looking to purchase an 1/18 scale truggy or monster truck and my head is spinning with all the choices. I'm pretty sure I don't want a RTR because I know I'm going to want to drop a brushless/lipo powerplant in it within 2 hours, and most of the radio gear seems pretty lousy that comes with these RTR's. I'd rather by a mid line TX with dual rates, expo etc. as I'm sure these little guys can get pretty squirrely.
Any suggestions on a real good (not meaning the MOST expensive) vehicle that would be ready to drop in all my own gear? Am I thinking smartly by purchasing just the truck and picking up a mamba powerplant, TX, etc on my own or am I wrong about the RTR stuff? I know I want 4WD and do any of these little guys have reverse? Not looking for a buggy because I am going to want to bash this thing around in the dirt. Any suggestions for a truggy or monster truck would be great!

You should look at the Anderson MB4 truggy kit. It's a Vendetta kit sold by a European company. You could not use a mamba you would need a bigger BL system that does not cost much more.

If you are looking for a basher MT, check out the RC18MT. Very durable, lots of hop-ups, Mamba fits it beautifully. If you want something that is more raceworthy, check out the Vendetta ST.

I would wait on the MLST2 to see if the diffs are really fixed. Why not the Vendetta ST I love mine and I jump it 8+ feet.

I've been leaning towards the team associated product. I did however, just go to the Duratrax site to look at the Vendetta ST per Frozen's suggestion and saw the Mini Quake SE.
Thats looking real interesting...

If you want a kit since you want to go brushless, what about either a Xray M18T or M18MT? Top quality and European made. Reverse is up to the brushless speed control you choose.

Xray is top notch, you can get the m18t/mt kits for $100 or even lower if you search hard and you will never regret it.

Local to you Marty's Hobbies and Hobbytown usa at Thousand Oaks are listed as Xray dealers.. You should be able to order through them and support your local hobby shop.
