I think stock gearing is something like 14/60 (Pinion Gear/Spur Gear) or something in an 18b. If you had motor with a bunch of torque, you could gear it something like 18/55 and it would be faster.

14/55 as per the parts listing.

RE: Just got a Mini-Rodeo buggy. RC18B clone?
Over here is AUS, i can get one of these knock-off's for aprox $60AUS delivered to my door, whereas the Team AE version is $340 from my LHS, A HUGE DIFFERENCE, i know[&:]
Is it worth getting the cheap version and spend the rest on a BL system ($150 for motor and esc. either 8K or 9200KV motor) a battery (li-po either 7.4V or 11.1V. ranges from $40-60) and some alum to replace the weak spots(im thinking like shock towers, arms, drive shafts mabye??) Can anyone please suggest what i would need to get to male it strong enough for BL speeds??? keeping in mind i have a budget so no un-neccesary things.
Cheers.

Got my associated heatsink/motor mount and my venom mini fireball 370. just waiting for the batteries to charge. I need a better charger, one that doesn't take 5 hours.

I had been thinking of getting me one of these Rodeo 18B clones to compliment my 18R I recently bought, but instead snatched up a Tamiya TamTech chassis kit from eBay for pretty cheap.
But they look like with a few choice upgrades that they would be good performers.

I think I may go brushless.
I have a 11t pinion on this Fireball mini 370, so my gearing is 11/55. Is there a better combo I should try? I have a 12t and a 14t pinion gear on hand also.

would it help on the minis to boil the plastic parts? I have a mini t and have only burned out a motor and steering servo, but eventually something will break.

thats a good idea, specially since they are $9 for the pair. They are plastic? I hope they are strong.

The RPM stuff is very durable. You would more likely to break all the other pieces on the vehicle before any RPM stuff.

For the gearing, base it on how it performs, essentially it should stay within a reasonable temp. then you tune it to how you like it, for eg, more bottom end, more top end (more top ended set-ups will generally lead to over heating)
You have a good range of pinions, i would suggest just buying the setup then starting off with the lowest tooth pinion and going from there.

I guess process of elimination would be most effective.

I want to get the MIP swingshafts cvds, but I'm not really sure if they will fit. And to be honest I can't see how they install into the diff.

I'm enjoying it and am learning a lot. I don't see a problem. I'd end up upgrading an rc18b anyway.

really good actually. I didn't break until I hit my car's tire at full speed..I dunno what happened but the steering stop responding. It broke the shock tower. I would also have to say the stock motor mount is garbage, the screw threads just disintegrated.

yep. I already ordered a replacement, which is good because I kinda bent the plastic all up while taking the spur gear off.
