RTR Mini Inferno Electric Questions
Hey Guys....
I'm new to the 1/16th scale electrics... got lots of 1/8 scale Savage Monster trucks... looking for a bit of help if you don't mind.
Got a Mini Inferno Electric RTR buggy.... is there any other names this buggy goes by so I can watch for the right parts etc?
I want to put some oil filled shocks... found some Kyosho ones... any good to go with those ones or is another brand better? (i'm not getting into any serious racing here)
I want to put in a better battery pack instead of using the AA's. Found a 9.6V pack set... is it going to burn things out with more volts... or gonna be okay?
Also wondering how to hook up my Spektrum DX3 to it... will it fit they Spektrum receiver? If so... how does this electric stuff work!! Aaahh... different is bad!!
Any other mods I should consider at the start so I can at least start having some fun without it sucking too bad?
Thanks in advance!

RE: RTR Mini Inferno Electric Questions
Unfortunately, the electric mini inferno RTR needs a ton of upgrades for decent performance. That said, it's easily my favorite out of all my minis (mini-t, rc18b/t, irc photon, chaos, vendetta, kmi) after a world of hop-ups.
www.thetoyz.com and www.minihobbyshop.com both have a good amount of mini inferno parts. There are a lot of mini inferno knock-offs out there (trinity next / now, irc photon, etc), but the mini inferno is not itself a knock-off. Those others share some parts (diff cases and suspension setup is largely the same), but not all (none of the knockoffs have a center diff, if I remember correctly). I'm partial to the 3racing aluminum shocks, but I've heard the kyoshos are just fine. 9.6v packs are fine with the stock electronics. It has an all-in-one speed controller and receiver, so you'll have to replace both to go with a spektrum setup. Additionally, the servo is a 4-wire, so you'll have to replace that too.

RE: RTR Mini Inferno Electric Questions
pbmax linked some good stores, and there's always ebay. The things I would look into are:
- batteries. you can use a saddle pack made of 2/3a cells or small lipos.
- replace the all-in-one rx/esc unit. Go brushless for the motor/esc, and yes you can use your spektrum dx2, but not until you change out the stock stuff.
- 3racing shocks or kyosho shocks
- 3racing center ball diff
- cvd's
- front and rear 09 diffs or ball diffs.
- KM chassis (if you feel like spending some money). If you get this, you don't need to get another center diff. This kit has one included.

Also the CAW chassis is Awesome! A hs-81mg is THE servo for it for sure. If you serious about performance the CAW chassis will allow you to run a stick pack like a 2-3s lipo in 2200mah config. I have the SATO shocks on one of mine and 3 racing on the other and stockers on the ST and the SATO's are by far my favorite. The Kyosho shocks are as good as well. Not too impressed with the 3 racing ones but they are not bad for the money.

RE: RTR Mini Inferno Electric Questions
Cool info.... thanks guys.
I'm not going big time here yet... spent lots on my Savages... so I want to get into the electric slowly.
First thing is the battery packs and the oil filled shocks.. then it will boggie and be able to take on some tracks instead of just plain flat surfaces.
Thanks!

RE: RTR Mini Inferno Electric Questions
Well... got the Kyosho battery packs for my Mini Inferno today (birthday gift from my wife... she's great!!).... the LHS sent along a 7.2V charger... rather odd considering the battery pack is a 9.6V. What chargers are you guys using?

Sounds like the charger you got is a wall charger. You need to get yourself a better charger that you can adjust the amps for charging the battery.
