1 1/4" Spinner
Does anyone have a source for a 1 1/4" spinner either aluminum, my preference, or plastic? I'm building a Shrike and powering it with a Norvell .074 and I think it would really look sweet to be able to taper the nose down to a 1 1/4" spinner. The plans are drawn to show it that way but when I called to find a source for the spinner I was told that they, Lanier, had no clue.[>:]

Tom,
I haven't seen a 1 1/4" spinner in years. I THINK the last one I saw was made by/for ACE.
There was a thread on another forum a year or so ago. No one knew of a source at that time.
You would think, considering the rising popularity of 1/2A, that some enterprising company would jump in and make some.

You would think that Norvel would if nobody else!
I have talked to most of the spinner manufacturers at the various shows, and they just don't seem to realize that there are millions and millions of .049s out there (no, I am not exagerating, C*x made over 1mm engines a year for many years, Testors did similar numbers for a while)

Hello,
Yes, I was able to get a 1 1/4" spinner from Flair of England. A red plastic one, not bad for the price of around $5.00 total. I would also care to see some nice ,aluminum spinners for us, but alas the 1/2a pilots are the forgoten group. Perhaps.. eh?.. We will see ....

I tried a 1 1/4" plastic snap on type, which was designed for speed 400 motors, but the Norvel .061 must not have liked it because when I throttled up it shot that sucker half way across the pits.

The Flair 1 1/4" uses a backplate, the front screws into it for securing. Only plastic avalible, though. The plastic Flair spinners are found using the link below... ...

I could spin some up on my metal spinning lathe if anyone was desperate. Once you've made the form, spinning aluminum is pretty quick and easy.

Shakas, that's about as good as I think I'll be able to get. The O.D. is perfect for the Shrike, the quality and price are right, and all I'll have to do is to turn a bushing for the back plate, and macnine an adapter to screw onto the all thread that I'll screw into the crank end and tap internal threads for the screw to hold the spinner onto the adapter and I'll be in business. Duck soup! I love it when a problem gets solved. Thanks for the link.
