Default Air filter for cox engines

Is there any way to make a filter for cox engines without a carb?

Default RE: Air filter for cox engines

CCM, we used to take a small bit (maybe a 3/8" cube) of fairly open cell foam rubber and tack it in place under where the tank and product engines pull their air in (usually opposite the needle on the backplate, or on bottom). It cannot be compressed very much at all, or air won't pass, but it will keep the 'crud' out.

Another trick I picked up from SpinDr was to fill that area with a filler block, and then run a channel in the firewall equal to the size of the original out the top of the firewall. This prevented a mouse racer from picking up crud on landing. I will try to get a pic if I can....
