My Hummer
Nope, I didn't build it. It was a Christmas present to myself...I had it built because I knew it wasn't going to build itself.
I just made a picture of it and thought I would show it off.
I'm not sure when I will be brave enough to fly it...probably this summer.
I will use a AP .061 for power.
weight is 11 ozs as it is with no radio or engine.

RE: My Hummer
Its a Sig Hummer kit. I even have one in the rafters. I had 3 of these little gems and they all flew great. I flew 2 with Tee Dee .051 with throttle sleeve ailerons and elevator 200mA pack and S133 servos. One even had a OS Max .10 FSR with 4 channel and boy did it hum!!!!. All were great stable fliers. You should have a ball and with the lighter radios it should perform well.

I've never owned one myself but have flown several Hummers belonging to others. It's a good, honest airplane. Don't be skeert of it! Darren the Hummer is a Sig kit. http://www.sigmfg.com/cgi-bin/dpsmar...FV3.html?E+Sig

RE: My Hummer
Darren, I ordered this Sig Hummer from Quantummodels.com. The ads for this plane caught my eye years ago and I have always wanted one since then.
Dickeybird,
R.A. didn't build it, but I'm sure he could have done a fantastic job on one.
This plane was built by Brent Shank who contacted me over on the Kit Builders Forum when I was looking for a builder. He does wonderful work, and is a real pro.
I'll put in a plug for him by giving his email address. [email protected]
He also built this 1/2 A SST for me. [8D]

Hi Lynn --
Both planes look super and you should have a real blast flying each. I have both and like both. I really like the color scheme on the SST. Was your SST kitted or built from the RCM plans? Is your SST wing foam cored or built up -- the original plans used a core with L/E, T/E sheeting and capstrips. Mine is built-up, simply because I didn't have a core and also tend to prefer the conventional structure. The SST is a bit more robust than today's designs -- but typical of the era (1976).
Darren:
Like Dickeybird said, the Hummer is currently kitted by SIG. It is a little unusual in that it is very lightly built -- many kits I've seen tend to overbuild rather than underbuild. The Hummer has 1/16" fuselage sides with 1/8" square reinforcement. Front half is doubled with 1/16"also. Wing is built up with sheeted T/E and open structure L/E -- 1/4" L/E, 3/16" main spar and 1/8" support spar midway between main and L/E; flat, fully symmetrical. Fuselage has a slightly longer nose moment than most. It originally came out with 2 standard servos shown, but the smaller equipment, like BobHH's planes, easily allows 3 or 4 channels. Fuse: 2" W, 28.5 L; Wing: 34" W/S, 6.25" Chord.

RE: My Hummer
Andrew, The SST was a Hobby Shack kit that I bought from forum member "SST" and it has the foam wing with balsa sheeting.
I ordered the plan then SST offered to sell me his kit.
I will take more pictures and show them when I fly both of the planes this summer.
BobHH, I'm glad to hear the Hummer is a good flyer, I will try it first.
