Default .020 Throttle Hookup

I am in the process of hooking up the throttle linkage on a TD .020 with a throttle sleeve. I was going to use a wire with a Z-bend, but I'm a worried about radio interference with the metal to metal contact.

Any suggestions?

Isn't your servo arm made of plastic? I can't see how an interference could result from the control rod touching the engine. Or you could use one of those plastic clevis dealies on the end, instead.

That's the problem, I can't see how a clevis could be connected to the tiny throttle sleeve.

Andrew, I've been using .025" music wire with a Z-bend to connect to throttle sleeves for 20 yrs. and so far (knock on wood) haven't had any problems. Never really thought about it 'til you mentioned it....can't think of a way to do it differently anyway! Nylon clevises, ball ends, EZ connectors, etc. are too big to work.

When I started using a transmitter rather than a control handle to control some of my planes, I was told to not have a metal to metal contact on the throttle.

I was very obedient, . . . until I did not have enough room for smooth operation using the nylon clevis I had on hand.

So I went to the Z-bend and it is working find and interference free with my Futaba 6XA and my HiTec 555s.

For throttle sleeves on everything from .010's to .049's I use the Dubro fine guage golden cable with the yellow spaghetti sleeve. For the throttle end, I tin the cable with silver solder and z-bend it. I like this stuff because it will go through pretty wild curves with little binding/friction.....
