Default PeeWee Pal from Feb 1958 MAN

I bought a few older "Model Airplane News" magazines from 1958 on eBay a while back, one of them has plans for a plane called the PeeWee Pal (this issue also contains a detailed review of the "new" PeeWee .020 from Thimble Drome). I'd love to convert this plane to R/C, but since there are many aircraft that fall into this category I probably won't get around to it any time soon. But I thought some of you guys might get a kick out of it, so I scanned the article and plans for your enjoyment.

I've done a quick search and I can't find anyone selling the plans, so I hope I'm not infringing anyone copyright. Also, if you'd like you may email me and I can send you larger, higher res images.

I think it would be really neat if others in the forum who have some of these older magazines could scan some of the more attractive plans, it could become a really neat resource.

Enjoy!

Derek

Well I've been playing with Photoshop and I've come up with a better image of the plans:

Edit: Hmm that didn't work as well as I'd hoped....oh well drop me a line if interested.

There should be a law against something that cute

This would be a fanstastic model for so many ways of flying either with small electric or the PeeWee or blown up as a fake 1/2A Texaco for gas or Speed 400 electric.

If any of you make it for free flight be sure to put a DT fuse on it. This is thermal fodder of the finest order!

Rag, you got a PM dude....

Hello

I think this pee wee pal is indeed a little cutie! Can someone tell me what wingspan is best for use with a cox 020 engine? I've been thinking about a wingspan of around 30 inch, but I'm not sure.

Greetings

Stijn

If anyone still needs plans Derek posted them to the plans page at Small Flying Arts at:
<http://www.smallflyingarts.com/Free_...ree_plans.htm> before leaving for his month of fishing in Alaska.

That should work for the Pee Wee. If you're thinking of using a TD .020 then 36" might be a bit better. For RC the larger size to 'tote the load' might be a better choice no matter which engine.

In my experience a 30 inch model may result is bit of a hotrod even with the PeeWee. This assumes you can keep the overall weight down to about 10oz or less. If it comes out a bit heavier then 30 will be fine as the weight will tame the climb a little. I'm basing this on a built up 35 inch span, 10 oz Taylor Cub design I built years ago that had a PeeWee on it with Ace/Adams RO equipment in it. It was just right in the performance department. I was doing really well with the flying too until it went out of range.... []

At 36 to 40 inch span it would fly more like a Texaco type model with a gentle uphill glide sort of climb and better thermalling chances with the extra wing area.

Sounds good. I like fast cars and motorcycles and slow model airplanes[8D]
