Norvel .074 on an Ace Mach None
I need some advice from anyone with Norvel engine experience. I just picked up an Ace Mach None kit and am deciding which engine to put in it; a Norvel .061 AME or a Norvel .074. Is the .074 too much engine? I had a Mach None back in the 80s and had a Tee Dee .051 in it and it performed well, but was still slightly underpowered.

I have a AME .061 and have not run it yet, and a .074. I'm not really sure, the .074 is larger and swings a larger prop. I'd say it would be close.

The plane was a winner with a Tee Dee .049. But what the heck, that is what throttles are for, isn't it? You certainly aren't likely to tear the wings off. Go with the .074! Especially if you add landing gear.

again, I had one in 84 with a supertigre x-15 and a tuned pipe. don't worry about overpowering the airframe. the 074 will be a good match. it won't be much faster than a tee dee but will have more pull. should be a fun combo. I'd bet it'll fly like a 40 size kaos with the 074.
