Early Fuji .09 engines
Fuji made several versions of their twinstack .09 engine plus earier versions with no stacks.
I have eight of these engines and it would appear they followed an alphabetical order with their serial numbers during the early years.
Here are the first four.

RE: Early Fuji .09 engines
Were these ported Cox-style, Dan, with twin bypasses and twin exhausts?
Also, I notice some of the exhaust ports don't line up with the stacks, is this how they were diesigned or just an assembly thing?

The first seven Fuji engines have porting similar to an OK Cub or Wen-mac.
Three holes in the bottom of the steel cylinder and three slit exhaust ports. The twin exhausts make it look like it would only have two exhaust ports..but there are three.
The last one, with the green plastic venturi extender has two internal machined intake ports and two exhaust ports, similar to Cox.
The first one shows a head not lined up because it was loose when I took the picture and didn't notice it.

RE: Early Fuji .09 engines
Dan, I bought my first Fugi motors in Korea in 1966 at the base hobby shop. I couldn't tell you which of the ones pictured was indeed the motors that I bought. I will tell you that they were very steady runners but like the Wen Mac and cub that it emulated it, they wern't really all that powerful. They did start easy and were very cheap on fuel. Not too valuable as a collector piece . However it's interesting to go to the MECOA site and check the price on a current Fugi 09. It's an obscene price for that motor.
Now if you did like I did and bought the Fugi 049,061 and 15 outboard motors and kept them NIB then you have achieved a rare return on your investment. The 2 smaller ones were under $10.00 at the time and the 15 which was a really nice green and cream was all of $11.95.
I'm just going to have to get a digital camera so I can show you some of my oddities.
Regards,
Dennis

Dennis,
Those smaller Fuji outboards are excellent collectores' items.
I had one of the .15 outboards NIB. It had a white lower end and a dark maroon or brown top piece.
They made a lot of the .15's but the little guys are scarce.
The Supertigre .049 outboard is probably the hardest outboard to find.
