Worth buying .061 to use it for diesel?

Worth buying .061 to use it for diesel?
Can a diesel converted norvel .061 turn a bigger prop than a regular nitro .074?
I was thinkin, more runtime, no glow plug, and a lot quieter, but would it be able to turn the same prop?
THANKS A BUNCH!

RJL head
I've done a lot of research today and looks like I'm gonna go with the #911-149 RJL Diesel Head for Cox .049 / .051 to put it on a norvel .061.
Looks like they are closed this first week of August so I'm just going to have to wait a little extra. At least I can break it in with glow while I wait.
Thank you!!!

RE: Worth buying .061 to use it for diesel?
I was just running a DDD head on a converted Cox reedie. It was swinging a 8x4 at 8,000rpm. It would not start, well I couldn't get it to anyways with anything smaller. It was blowing out compression disks on every second or third flight. What a drag! I was lucky enough and Bailey Harris gave me a RJL headlast week. I hope to give it a try here one night this week. It's so nice not having to worry about a glow starter battery to go dead.

My suggestion is to buy a PAW or MP-Jet .061 rather than the Norvel converted. I have run all three (Using the RJL head on the Norvel, as I prefer it to the DDD).
The Norvel won't swing the size of prop that the MP-Jet and PAW will. I really didn't see a great advantage from it over the glow version. It would not run the 7" props I regularly use with the MP-Jet (7x5!) and PAW (7x4). It did run very well with a 5x3 3 blader, and turned nearly 19K.

For my two cents, I agree with Larry. Both the PAW and the MP Jet are excellent engines.
Tim, Keep us posted on how the RJL head works on the reedie. I have not used an RJL head. I think the teflon inserts blowing in the DDD head is to protect the engine from damage. An 8x4 seems like a lot of prop to hang on a reed .049. Good luck with it.

I'll definitely keep you guys posted.. but this week isn't good because I have finals (college summer classes) and a lot of stuff happenin this weekend.
I haven't ordered anything yet, since Mecoa is closed this week, so I still have a week to decide!

Sounds neat, I (and am sure many others) are quite interested in such a conversion. Keep us posted on your progress.
