Looks like they have a nice little fleet of planes. Has anyone converted any of these? I think that eva bipe is a nice looking plane and would be nice for an 074.

Old post but here goes. I have converted a Mini Flash to a norvel .061. The plane was a bit tail heavy so I just threw the engine on to the front. It worked great but not enough power to hover it and it was hard to slow it down due the 061 fast idle speed. This winter I will strap an .074 on it.

MM makes great planes. I have the Mini Flash and had a Dandy Sport. Both are excellent flyers. One guy at the club had a Tantrum and he loved it.

Did you have any trouble with the strength of the plane? I like the idea of putting small engines in these, having built an MM Switchback a while ago, but I had my doubts about their ability to withstand the vibration of an engine. This might be even more of a problem with designs like the Tantrum, which are supposed to be super light for the best 3D performance. I have a nice O.S. 10 sitting around, I wonder...

Hard to imagine a OS.10 being too much power for anything with wings.

It's not power that's the problem, but how it's delivered. Electric motors are smooooth whereas glow engines are j!-e!-r!-k!-y!.

So is the .10FP as weak as they say? It sure is a cute engine.

Matthew Allen,

I have had a little vibration problem with the wings where they join the fuse at the trailing edge. I am going to fix that this winter. Other than that it has held up well. I have it covered in Solite which is strong enough for flight and engine vibration, but is not so good for the constant cleaning you have to do - pressing on it with a rag. I would use a heavier covering. The hole in the wing was me being clumsy and dropping a screw driver on it.
