Kao-tic PROGRESS! BMatthews ?
The plans are complete. (very complete) I planned on uploading them last night, but the process takes a little while and other things kept me busy. Here's a look at the plans in low-res and a look at a wing mount option from BMatthews. My question to Bruce is how well I carried your idea through?

Um.... what idea? The airfoil?
If so then it's not "quite" right from what I can see. If it was me doing this I'd make the tailing edge sit at 90 degrees to the lower side. The rear flat V of the ribs would also be of consistent angle and size and the leading edge curve scaled to fit into the V as the wing tapers. This way the wing can be built on a flat table all in one piece and it'll all line up.
Actually with the swept forward trailing edge if you build it right side up there will be a tiny bit of dihedral built in. It'll be so slight that I'm not sure the average eye will even see it without a ruler to help out.
Or if it's just for the Kao-tic in general then I'm afraid you have me confused with another Bruce....
These plans available yet? I'm trying to pry my way out of motorcycle racing and get back to models. A brushless E400 motor is looking for a home.

Bruce, the pictures should have told the story. The center-bolt wing is something you tried to get me to try on the DNU. I thought you were a little loco until I thought about it for awhile. (you still might be, so I credited you on the plans) Yep, the pdf is done and ready to upload.

Patrick,
I assume you will be uploading the plans to the 1/2a All The Way MSN group?
I've been waiting for these plans, I have a TD .049 just waiting for this plane.

I'd forgotten about the center wing bolt deal in terms of suggesting it to you. I've championed this cause to so many that it's hard to keep track of who and where.
Anyhow, in that case it looks good and I'm sure the center section rib and sheeting will thank you profusely when outside loops are being done....

....Sorry, I shouldn't have insulted you like that by mentioning that "P" word.....
In any event the Kao-tic looks like another winner. I forsee great things ahead for it.

Bruce, you saw through me! And I thought it was a stroke of genius... Actually, I've really gone over to your side. A little bracing would probably help, but all this mount probably needs is EPOXY. I've included letter and legal size pdf's in this one and went back and put the legal size in the DNU file, too. If you have any legal paper on hand, it cuts out three pages worth of assembly.

Hi PT, great looking plane!
Recently started looking around for a 1/2A low wing design to build once I cleared off my building board and I guess your kao-tic will be it! Somehow, I've always had good results building from your plans.
Thanks for sharing.

PT --
It looks great, as usual. The only recommendation I would have would be to move the 1/16" ply to the top of the holddown block. Since the plywood provides thread grip, use the block to support it in addition to glue. OTOH, the ply would be less likely to crossthread.

Have just downloaded and printed out on Legal the Kao-tic pdf. The Legal paper version does not have the bull-eyes in the corners to aid in trimming and alignment. The letter size does. Is this an oversight or a limitation of the tiling program or just won't fit??
Also I was unable to find dimensions of aileron stock used. Not a problem for me, but some others might need that detail.
Was surprised to see both front and back shear webs. Do you anticipate such G-loads that this is required? I know you all fly fast and furious down there so probably you need it! Maybe not required up here in the real North-East where we are sometimes a bit more laid back?

RE: Kao-tic PROGRESS! BMatthews ?
Jim, on the bulls-eyes. Oops! Looks like I need to redo that one! It's so easy to miss stuff like that. The shear webs are another story. There's two reasons I show them full length. Number one is keep it from twisting too much and to keep the wing a little straighter. Number two is I design around reed valve engines. So, people like Brocja01 make me a little nervous. Putting a TD on this will be the test. Shear webs are just cheap insurance, so if you feel comfortable without them, leave'em off. Often I will use balsa for the spars and feel better with them full length. The aileron stock is 3/16x3/4. That will give me another reason to update both pdfs. Good eye! Keep letting me know about any goofs you find!
CP, I've never seen a Bridi design flying! One of our club members had a Tower Kaos ARF, but I don't remember him ever flying it?!
Efish, there oughta be an award for building a third from my stack!

I'm surprised you guys haven't already put a TD on it.
In all seriousness, is a TD to much engine for the plane. I also have a BW sitting around that needs a home as well.

Sure, nothing but LIP
I've actually never ran a TD before. And reading all the things that people say about them in the forum, they sound like they are screamers.

They are more powerful than a Norvel BigMig .061. No kidding! I picked up about ten miles an hour on my Lil Streak with that engine swap.
