Sig Wonder Help?
Hi, I need some help with a Sig Wonder. OK, I confess I've got a 20 some year old OS.25 FSR bolted in there, but I believe it was designed as a small plane originally. (.049 - 0.19).
Put in 4 flights and the plane flies fine - pretty quick at WOT, nice super tight turns. I did have to push my servo travels up to 150% though. Will need to adjust for the same sort of throws mechanically. I think I'm way past the recommended throws, but the plane is not uncomfortable to fly (with a little expo).
My problem is that the plane does not seem to want to roll. With the aileron travel I have on now, its very responsive and sharp banks are the norm. However, when I try to roll/go inverted, the plane sort of gets stuck in knifeedge. Typically, I'm still pushing the stick all the way over, but the plane just flips to one side, then hangs in knifeedge and starts to lose altitude (no rudder!). Shortly thereafter, my nerves normally give out and I recover to upright flight.
To be fair, I haven't really held the stick over too long once its in knife edge since I'm worried about what if the plane does flip over and I can't roll back (don't fancy trying to land inverted)! With its short wings, I'd have thought roll rates would be pretty hot, but as of now, I've flown trainers that were easier to roll/invert than this thing.
Is this typical of Wonder? Is there anything I could/should try? I'm thinking more aileron throw?!
It's really a nice no fuss plane to fly, and if only it were more aerobatic, it would be getting loads more airtime!
