Default new kit!

I just became the proud owner of a Sig "HUMMER" kit. It is of course 1/2 A size. Could anyone offer suggestions as to a good powerplant for such a model?I was thinking of using a norvel 061. which I already have. or also a 007 size thunder tiger, but its probably too big, no? hanks in advance!

That Norvel 061 should move it along very nicely. I'd suspect you'll be much happier with that than the TT07.

Yep what he said...it was designed around the td ,049 the TT07 is gonna be too heavy and probably about the same power as the .061 go ahead and use what you have....the instructions are old school...Rog

"Old School" instructions?! You mean like the Goldberg Kits?
I hate that too. But the term "old School"....ouch.
I remember when the Hummer came out, That doesnt seem that long ago to me...I'm getting old. []

Sig Hummer, thats a great kit to build and fun to fly. I built one years ago and powered with a 049 it had plenty of power. I just built another one a few months ago and converted it to electric. I love this little plane. I am experimenting with a foam version now adding rudder to make for easier take offs.

Sig kits are great. I personally would do the rudder. You will get a fine airplane by just carefully following the directions.

I can vouch for the Hummer a well. I had one wth a Norvel .061 big mig, and it moved it along pretty swiftly. Easy to build, and a nice flier, and pretty aerobatic too with symetrical foil and straight wing.

As for the instructions - I like old school ones, where they actually explain step by step in good english, have clear photos and fullsize plans. Th Hummer instructions tick all those boxes.

I always handlaunched mine. Never bothered with a rudder, but each to their own. If I built another, I'd mount the aileron servo in the centre of the wing, not offset to one side of the rib. Just my personal preference.

I just finished and flew the hummer a month ago. I had a great time building it. Easy to follow instructions and simple construction made the build time, unfortunately, shorter then I had hoped. I used a norvel .049. I have always hand tossed it due to the lack of a rudder. The plane flies great. The only modification I did was using two aileron servos mounted in the wings. Worked great though. I like having a gas powered park flyer. 1/2A is the way to go.

Dang what a spinner on that thang! Beautiful plane regardless.

Ivo, I built the Hummer last year and it does build up quickly. I powered mine with an AP .061 and has ample power. Best of luck with yours.
