Go to AeroDyne ([link]http://www.freeflightmodels.com/[/link]) , Plans and Kits. Miscellaneous Scale has a bunch of Flyline designs which were specifically for 1/2A RC - called Schoolyard Scale back in the 70's - 80's. A lot of the other plans could probably be modified to work.

DNU is an excellant choice. The problem with scale is that the planes mostly use big, heavy radial engines and had a very short nose to balance the engine weight vs. the tail feathers. That means, for true scale, it is very difficult to have that short nose up front and balance the plane without a geat deal of extra weight in the nose; extra weight to the point where the plane is now too heavy to fly. But if you want a 'hanger queen' for static display, go ahead.

DNU sounds and looks good, but I don't want a kit. I have many kits under my belt and want to try scratch built from just plans.
I want it converted to electric with possibly a Eflite 400 brushless motor. But this needs a ESC and wire connecting.
I prefer to use the 550 brushed motor I have (the motor from a Vista EP sailplane) because it already has the ESC connected and its ready to use.
Can the 550 motor be used on the DNU? It has a 8x4 folding prop and I don't know how to change it if I had to, so I would like to use it just as it is.

I do not have that info. The motor is an economy brand with no markings on it to provide operating details. It is the motor that was supplied with the Tower Hobbies Vista EP arf.
Anyone have any details on this?

I built the Rearwin Speedster Rainedav posted above... from RCM 11/77. Great flier on a TD .049 and 3 channels: throttle (Ace throttle sleeve), elevator, and rudder. I scaled up the plans to a 48 wingspan since the original wing area would have made it too fast.
Lots of scale plans out there that would be fun to build. Scale plans are a ton of fun and fly very well, but they do require a lot more time and effort (well worth it). Also, they are a nice change from the boxy standard models commonly seen.
I also have a bunch of plans available if you are be interested.
