RE: 12FG to 12FG training cord

The 8FG manual doesn't state what cable to use when connecting two 8FGs together, or an 8FG to a 12FG. I'm assuming that because they are both operating at the lower voltage that a conventional FUTM4415 can be, and should be used. Is this true? Does not the special FUTM4405 cable have a voltage reducer at one end and will not work with two low-voltage (7.4V battery) radios? I'd like clarification. Thanks.
