12FG to 12FG training cord
If I am connecting two 12FG's together for training purposes I assume that I do not need the special voltage drop cord as both work on the same voltage, am I correct?

Forgive me if there is a technical reason for having to use the special cord with the 12FG to contect to another 12FG but I have just plugged in a normal square too square buddy lead and it all works OK, I think that is because both are using the same voltage i.e. 7.2, when using an incompatable voltage Tx for the slave then I can see that the special lead with the voltage control would be needed, the only incompatability I have encountered is that the slave does not control the two additional switched only channels. If there is a technical reason other than the voltage please let me know.

RE: 12FG to 12FG training cord
Bax,
The 8FG manual doesn't state what cable to use when connecting two 8FGs together, or an 8FG to a 12FG. I'm assuming that because they are both operating at the lower voltage that a conventional FUTM4415 can be, and should be used. Is this true? Does not the special FUTM4405 cable have a voltage reducer at one end and will not work with two low-voltage (7.4V battery) radios? I'd like clarification. Thanks.

Thanks much. But regarding your second point. The 8FG manual page 42 contains a table that says that you don't need the special FUTM4405 cable when connecting to another (non-8FG/12FG) radio, and can use the straight cable, if the 8FG is being used as the student box. Is this not true?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hi Jayc123,
Yes, the 8FG will work with the 4YF, and yes, you will need the FUTM4405 trainer cord whether the 8FG is the master or the student, so that the voltage from the 8FG can be stepped down safely to the 4YF.

As long as the two transmitters are IDENTICAL, you'll not have a problem. Just don't forget that you need the 12FG cord when the 12FG or 8FG are paired with anything else.

RE: 12FG to 12FG training cord
BaldEagel,
Not true. The 4FY is not the same as the other radios. It is a trainer box and not listed in any of the Futaba / 8FG trainer compatibility documentation. And the FUTM4405 cable has a converter mid-cable. It looks like a switching power supply and other stuff for the level shifting. Maybe you could answer if the 4YU has the same PPM signal as the 8FG and is compatible with the FASST PPM pulse stream. Futaba is releasing a new FUTM4376 4-channel trainer box in December that is supposed to be compatible with the their 2.4GHz radios. Why is that? Why not list the 4FY? Why is the 4FY omitted from their compatibility lists. Not all Futaba radios are compatible (regard less of cables) with the 8FG. That's why I ask.

I know this will be deleated by the Mods, but if you look back in this thread, it has been answered many times, as long as the two boxes use the same voltage then they do not need the special cable, the slave box does not even have to have a transmission capability unless using the radio link in whitch case it needs a 2.4Ghz module to operate.
