Just curious, Hoss... Does UMA pay AND AMA or in lieu of AMA.
I understand the 'Primary' part 'n all, but does AMA ALLOW UMA to be the "Primary"? Howz dat work??"
"Then, if one was more accident prone or daring or....... it would behoove him to get this insurace as well for a measly $30.oo per year?!?!? You think?"
<<<<<<<<,
Bob, looks like others answered the first question.
The price is $38 vice 30.
How one structures one's own financial protection is definitely one's own personal business.
IMO, the standard HO policy of $300,000 liability falls a bit short of protecting the potential risk in a RC accident.
OTOH, AMA's secondary insurance does provide that "other guy" with protection should he damage me or mine, regardless of how the "other guy" structures his personal protection plan.
In my lifetime, with my rather limited experiences with rental properties and seller-financed mortgages, I was somewhat dismayed to find that a number of people will allow insurance to expire and such persons need some external motivation to reinstate said insurance. Therefore I never know whether that other person has insurance (or suitable asset reserves) on any specific day or not. A current AMA Membership card states that he does.
For that reason, the requirement for 100% AMA membership within the AMA Charter Club is not a problem for me. I prefer such arrangement.
AMA membership covers EVERYONE's butt. My membership in UMA is strictly a buffer between possible claims and my major primary policies. It is designed to cover MY butt, yet it also potentially covers AMA as it is additional buffer between my personal primary insurance and AMA's secondary. As stated in post #4, just a part of my personal financial protection structure at a very reasonable expense for me.
