The biggest problem I've seen with Jato's shredding tires is not putting tape on the inside of the tire. Whenever I put new wheels and tires on any R/C Car, I run a single width piece of duct tape or the really strong packing tape (with the stringy stuff in it) around the inside of the tire. This prevents ballooning thus preventing tires from shredding. I clean the inside of the tire with denatured alcohol before taping, too. I have had the glue break loose on me in the past but I didnt sand the tire or rim So now I sand the surfaces where the glue will be (bead of rim and inside edge of tire) with a dremel and sanding drum to get better glue adhesion. Never had one come apart since I started doing this.

Its not a bad idea to balance your tires, too.
