RE: Jack Devine Models are they still open?
Thanks Bill. I've used a variety of gear and engines across different planes and have had good results with all honestly. Expected weight is 23-26 pounds probably depending on your equipment selection, like sliding canopy, tail retract, etc. They will fly great on a G62 which is a tight fit, but enclosed. My old one flies nicely on an OS BGX but its at it's limit. I used a CRRC 45 cc ignition gasser on white 10 which should power it well...just need something that swings a 20/10 prop well, like a Moki, G45 etc. I've had Barton and Shindin retractable in mine, and both work great. Sierra gear will fit the wing too.
It's a great flying plane. Takes off nice and smooth with no bad habits. It's well priced for what you get and there are a wealth of aftermarket parts out there like display props, wheels, cockpit, etc. You should be comfy with a glass and foam core build is all. Anyone who has built an FW will know that there is a good degree of fiddling to get the wheels in the wells when installing the gear, but since I have done it several times now, it's a lot easier. It does require the flaps to land, but lands awesome wih them.
