The new term for blueprints is reprographics. You usually get a better deal at reprographics company. I can get 8 scans up to 7' by 3' for $20 and $5 to $15 dollars to place on mine or there media respectively. I use a 1 Gig USB drive and have them transfer the scans to it. They also have a feature where I can download the scans via the internet.

I concur with BEM on the file format. As far as the file format most scanners native format isa TIF file with LZW compression These are generally 400dpi and are less than 4 megs in size. The only problem I have with PDF's is that there harder to get into Autocad.
