RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)
Some food for thought, regarding fuel tanks, clunk line, and clunks.
With the increased usage of these smaller gassers, we come to a couple issues
regarding the fuel system. Small gassers only need small fuels tanks, say 8-10 oz sizes.
Standard Tygon fuel line (1/8" I.D.x 1/4" O.D.) works fine in larger fuel tanks as they're
longer and a chunk of long std Tygon bends fine in such bigger tanks. Not so good in
smaller/shorter tanks.
Well, I found some that'll be great in 8-10 oz fuel tanks. It's called Oregon, and just
like Tygon, they're both made of vinyl tubing designed for gas or oil usage.
In the photo showing all 3;
A=Oregon [part #07-257] 1/8" I.D. x 3/16" O.D. [wall thickness=.035"]
B=Oregon [part #07-266] .094" I.D. x .203" O.D. [wall thickness=.050"]
C=std Tygon 1/8" I.D. x 1/4" O.D. [wall thickness=.060]
Fuel line A you probably should NOT try, as I feel it's wall thickness makes it far too flimsy
for our use. It's only shown for comparison. It's primary uses are in chainsaws, weedeaters,
hedge trimmers, etc.
Fuel line C [std 1/8" Tygon] is fine outside the fuel tank.
Fuel line B Oregon part #07-266 is what we need inside the fuel tank, connected to the clunk.
This one is far more flexable than std Tygon, and combined with the heavier clunk in the second photo,
will do a superb job!
The second photo is of a Poulan clunk/filter part # 530095646. It's heavier than most
clunks used for glow engines.
More flexable fuel line inside the fuel tank, plus a heavier clunk!
Both parts are available at many small engine repair shops, or online as well.
Just remember to change the clunk line portion at the start of each flying season!
