Your just getting a good start on it you will need to run about a gallon to a gallon and a half threw it and then it will start to settle down. The black residue coming out the exhaust will start to lesson as time goes. I had a problem with going from idle to full throttle it would die about 7000 or so rpm so I would run it up to where it would just about die and would start adjusting my low needle till it worked all the way threw to the top end. As I stated before if you don't have patience with this little engine then don't buy it!! This is not a reed, side or rear carb engine. I tought the same thing but all of a sudden it tamed down and started running better once the ring seem to wear in. Time, fuel, small adjustments and patience is all it takes.
Hey erieqc, any updates for us?
