RE: Quality Free Simulators?
I have several sims, my favorite is [link=http://rcflightsim.com/]CLEARVIEW[/link] just because I have had great support for any problems, they have been rare. I really like realflight but I need a better pc to max out the program.
The best free one I have found and it really is pretty good [link=http://rcdeskpilot.com/]RCDESKPILOT[/link].It is new and simple but better them FMS.
Clearview is growing fast they are really starting to expand into Realflight type scenery and model textures. It has a fortune in user created content and blah blah blah. I have gotten them both working perfectly with a DX6i and my Futaba T6EXAP .. I use the cables provided here [link=http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=futaba+usb&x=0&y=0]Futaba/JR to usb cables[/link]
Both of these programs have a lot of support here [link=http://www.rcgroups.com/simulators-172/]that other forum[/link]. The DX6i does not need to be powered on, the Futaba does. Both work well.
I believe you should research these programs as well as all the others mentioned. They all have pros n cons. If you want free, go with deskpilot, if you want to pay a little for a solid program that is improving constantly go with clearview. If you want top of the line that is capable of overpowering a lot of systems, has great support, high price tag,and every bell and whistle there is. Well.....
In my opinion you can not go wrong with Realflight G5.5 if you have the money and system to use it.
