I know you have to install Direct X 9 for it to work. It installs and runs on its own. It will not downgrade your current Direct x it simply runs when needed.

My observation is you get what you pay for (which is nothing in the case of free sims). When I started flying, I used a Reflex XTR sim. Basically I got the usb adapter for my radio from EBay along with the software cd which was not original. It was good enough for learning the Trainer. When I moved to a Tiger I tried the closest thing to that on the sim but it was not the same airplane. Then when I got a Topstar (Flip3D), I tried that on the sim and it was not the same either.
Finally I gave up and bought the RF5. Since it has a lot of options with engines, airplanes and infinite customisation, you can setup the airplane the way you want. You can make the airplane difficult to fly by onderpowering it or whatever. For example, I fly the Reactor 46 now and on the RF5 there is the Reactor 50cc. They dont behave the same but are similar. I configured the Reactor50cc on sim with a 120AX making it underpowered and quite difficult to fly. That ensures that I fly the Reactor 46 on the field (With a 55AX) a bit more conservatively. But you wont get a similar airplane and options on any other sim though

Hey, you can also find a number of threads discussing simulators right here in RCUniverse over in the RC Flight Simulator Forum. As it's title suggests, it's an entire forum about radio control simulators and simulation. It's just down the list of forums from RCU's Beginners forum (this one).

In fact, if you look at the list of topics on RCU's own RC Flight Simulator forum, almost the whole 1st page is comparisons between individual sims.

The latest Real Flight is awesome, I think is 5.7
You can change the wind apeed and direction, the sun's position and several different fields.
It has a lot of airplanes and helis.
About the $180, it is worth it. It installs in 5 minutes and runs perfectly 100% of the time.
Figure you can fly day or night, rain or shine, snow or sleek.
If you crash it, hit the red buttom and presto a new plane, even full of gas and turn on.
It also have a section of videos of pros teaching you advanced maneuvers.
I always practice a new maneuver at the computer until I master it then I try it at the field.

rcdeskpilot & other fliers,
Thank y'all for your suggestions. I'm using Windows 7 Professional version. It has built-in DirectX 11, I do not wish to down grade it to DirectX 9, that's why I'm not using the Simulator. If this simulator support DirectX 11, it would have run, since it does not support so, it was not running at all, in fact every time I tried to run it, a pop up comes up the windows closing the program.

As with all versions of software, the DirectX API will prevent you from "downgrading" to a lower version. In fact, there is no real way of "uninstalling" DirectX either.
Few points regarding simulators: they are not all built the same. My Reflex XTR did not require a good graphics card (even though I had a decent card then). About the same time I bought the G5 I also upgraded my PC, so I obtained 2 x ATI 4550HDs 512MB each in Crossfire and an I7 processor so my PC doesnt struggle with anything. G5+ also requires 1GB RAM, 4GB HDD space and graphics card with per-pixel shading support so the requirements are quite heavy. You need sturdy hardware for G5 and having got that, it gives you very good results. So if you have a older PC you may want to factor in PC hardware cost into the sim decision

Running the DirectX 9 installer will not downgrade DirectX 11, it will simply add DirectX 9 libraries to the DirectX installation that where left out in DirectX 10 and 11 versions (in particular the managed .NET libraries). Lots of games will require you to do this and will have no influence on DirectX 11 installation.
Cheers,
Davy

Guys,
I've been working for quite a few years for IT, and funny thing I did not know
that it won't make any difference on my DirectX 9. As it's gonna be another DLL file so it's alright.
Thanks rcdesktop, ameyam, phoenixangel and y'all.
