AND won't unlock unless the car is in PARK - geeze, don't the manufactures ever stop to just drop someone off?

I'm sure their defense is that it's a ''Safety Feature''. I say if you're too stupid to get out of a car without getting run over by it, it's Darwin's theory in action.
