Please make them stop manufacturing large scale foam ARF's! [:@]
What is the deal with all these new FOAM model airplanes? Even with the so called uber super duper EPO foam it still looks crappy on the surface. Modelers not too long ago would have been embarrassed to show up at the field with such a lousy surface finish. Overly thick trailing edges. Bumps and snowflakes covering the entire surface. Yuck! [:'(]
And while I am at it:
Please make them stop putting servos on the outside of the fuselage! How ugly, how un-scale, how lazy. Get back to installing servos inside the model and using linkages!
Please make them stop putting full face motorcycle helmet wearing pilots in airplanes! Nowhere, anywhere, does a pilot wear a full face moto helmet in an airplane!
Feel free to add to the list.

You do, of course, realize that "rap music" is an oxymoron. Rap and music should not be used in the same sentence unles it is used as: "Turn that %&*&%$* Rap off and play some REAL music!!!

Ikind of like the foam planes sometimes. Simple and many fly well. Definitely not good for true-scale looks though so they need to be what they are and nothing more.
I agree on the full face helemeted pilots. What it sup with that? It is almost like someone got ahold of some formula-1 driver molds really cheap and decided to use the figures in airplanes.
Agree on the rap music too. And I'll add cheap pizza made in those conveyor ovens; that stuff should be illegal.
I actually have a long list of things Ihate. Sometimes I feel like putting all of them into a book or maybe doign a web site called "stuff Chuck hates".
I wonder what that says about me????????

And as long as we're going to stop "bleeping" out words, please stop fuzzing out the "other" good stuff!
Leave it up to the parents to decide what their kids should watch!
Uh-oh, I think we've created a "monster thread"...

The more I think about it, I dislike pilot figures in general. Most just look cartoonish and I feel like Iam playing with dolls or something when installing one.
They do however creep my wife out. I love putting one on the nightstand next to her when she is asleep, putting one next to the milk in the refrigerator, in the cabinet, etc. for her to find. She only stays mad at me for a few hours.

back in the late 70's and early 80's i was proud to show up at the field with a foam airplane. the sureflight kits were awesome and would love to have another one.
i will buy foam planes now. nice to have a foam glider to teach or introduce people to the sport on. there is a new C-17 foam plane that easy tiger has. i am ordering one next week if funds allow.
the thing i really hate the most is with all these arfs out there now is the covering looks nice till you fly the plane. even electric one's the covering will peel up. some even the sun will shrink it enough where you can see the balsa underneath where the seems are. i which they would offer them in ARC versions..............
As far as rap goes do some research rap came from R&B which came from Country music. yes most rap is tasteless.

Where are these large scale foam planes. I need to find a White Elephant gift for our Christmas party. Not sure what that is but a large white foam plane sounds about right.

A few hundred years ago, when the King of a BIG Middle Eastern kingdom was being threatened by a smaller kingdom, the big king would give the smaller king a white elephant as a gift.
Apparently, it costs a LOT of money to keep a white elephant, and it would literally bankrupt the smaller king (Who wouldn't DARE decline such an expensive gift from a big king)
So the smaller king would be ruined and therefore, no longer a threat.
We still use the term "White Elephant" as a useless gift.
Now, back to your regularly scheduled thread:

I guess the Chinese ARF manufacturer's all pulled out of the business, leaving behind foam factories that needed another revenue stream.
After all the same people who make foamy fuselages and wings ALSO manufacture the packing materials used to ship them, and packing foam for electronics, etc.
Open a Parkzone box and you'll see that the foam came from the same place for both the plane and packing stuff... often it can be exactly the same materials too, just treated or finished differently.

they will stop making them when people stop buying them. Simple supply and demand.
Also, there's valid reasons why servos are mounted on the outside. You get better direct linkage with the servo located closer to the control surface. Short control rods won't flex as much. Almost every 3D plane is setup with this option. Mounting elevator and rudder servos on the exterior can also help with balance and reduce the amount of weight often added to get neutral CG.

Foam planes make better trainers than balsa panes. Some look nice in the air or at a distance in my mind that is where they should look good

They would be great if they can just make a smooth finish. EPO is great but those stupid snowflakes drive me crazy. Plus you can use any type of paint to dress it up which makes it nice.
