RE: converting a MW foam cardinal
All done, mine weighs 34 ounces compared to your 29 ounces. I fly with a 1020 kv motor on a 30 amp esv. Like you, 4 servos, two in the wing then aileron and elevator. I use a 3s 20c 2200 pack with mine. The wing was modified for bolt on. I cut a acess hatch in the bottom for easy battery removal. I fly off grass so I use a 8 inch prop for ground clearance. I do have the LG installed on mine. Once you get some air blowing over the rudder it steers like it has steeraable nose gear .. it is actually fixed. Plane flies like a good trainer would and the plane design is actually set up like a trainer. The ailerons are not overly controlled, that is you can barely do a aileron roll but the rudder is very effective. Anyone doing the cardinal would probably do better just to skip the ailerons. rudder and elevator is just fine.
