no i dont spray my boats with anything.. and it would not get into the carb where the diaphrams are anyway if i did. Plain and simple it attacks the rubber. Ethanol is also a polar solvent..so it absorbs moisture. Maybe you have different ethanol over there, vs the corn based ethanol here.
