Well, Gert, at one time they actually taught American history in the schools. Now it's a social studies class where we learn how evil the barbaric European intruders were to the friendly, civilized Native Americans. Fortunately for my children, we home school and they get to learn other things that are verboten in public schools; memorizing the Preamble to the Constitution, Gettysburg Address, and Declaration of Independence.
