I have a old Tatone engine stand too. I keep meaning to re-mount it to a board for use but haven't done it yet. I had filed out the middle a little to clear a OS 1.20 Surpass years ago. Normally you couldn't bolt up a 1.20 engine to test as the bottom of the crankcase didn't quite clear.

Cox has a nifty little do all engine test stand for Cox 1/2a engines too:

They do have engine test stands for big engines like the gasoline engines too.
This example is sold on Ebay from time to time. You can drill and tap as needed on the sacrificial aluminum front plate:
