Over the years, there have been pictures posted in various threads here in this forum. Try a search for "test stand" or "engine test stand" perhaps?

Edit: Found some good pics...

Actually I thought he was referring to a Model Airplane test bench, like we have at many RC plane flying fields. It isn't difficult to make one.
Just a bunch of 2x4's, and some old carpet leftovers for the uprights to prevent scratching the wings. The front is usually angled down a little so that taildragger planes aren't pointing up too much. A narrow section at the rear and a wider section at the front. Use 4x4's for the uprights and rear table leg. Long sheet rock screws will hold it together for almost forever.

I caved in and bought a PSP test stand. Love it, works great, and I didn't have to make it.

I came across a unused PSP at a swap meet for $15. I've had it four yrs and have not used it. http://www.pspmfg.com/

I've been waiting for my old American Hobby Products Jumbo stand to wear out but so far, that has not happened.

I have been using a engine stand I bought off a fellow that sold them on Ebay a few years ago.
I have run up to 1.20 size engines on it no problem.

I have a old Tatone engine stand too. I keep meaning to re-mount it to a board for use but haven't done it yet. I had filed out the middle a little to clear a OS 1.20 Surpass years ago. Normally you couldn't bolt up a 1.20 engine to test as the bottom of the crankcase didn't quite clear.

Cox has a nifty little do all engine test stand for Cox 1/2a engines too:

They do have engine test stands for big engines like the gasoline engines too.
This example is sold on Ebay from time to time. You can drill and tap as needed on the sacrificial aluminum front plate:

Here is the simpler version on sale at Ebay, without the forward mounting plate.
