I use 2x5S packs, but I guess there's really no rhyme or reason why, other than it seems easy to setup and possibly repair/replace. I don't ever really disconnect them (I use Powerpoles).

There is a chance I may end up at some point this season, which would require buying a bunch of 3S packs - no biggie.
