I was thinking that too.. but the indicator on the remote is still green. although they are the orginals from probally 6 months ago 2 and half quarts of gas ago.
what about the on-board batteries? did you check those?

also, look for any damage to the rx antenna.

and good for you for having your fail safe set! so many a RC'er forgets to do such things and disaster strikes!
