Military vehicles carry or have access to Footman loops. These are metal loops with a hole at each end and a raised portion between to secure a web belt. If the crew wants to mount a 5 gal water/oil can say, on the rear fender, all that is required is to drill two holes for 3/8 bolts and mount a pair, insert a web belt and lash them down. If no web belt, use a rope. On the Pershing, there are (supposed to be) Footman Loops on the side of the sponson boxes to lash down the tarp. Those cans on the rear of your tank are totally wrong from the Chinese toy makers concept. Jerry cans all leak and with the opening down as they are, the can would be empty and you'd have a slick mess all over the fender when you got where you're going. Also, those mg ammo cans have to move or braced as shown in my photos. It's easy to scratch-make a footman loop and run a "rope" though it and tie a knot...it will add a bit of optical realism in showing that your stowage is tied down and ready to roll. For water cans, you can use a field expedient and use a strap or rope to just hang a couple through the handle to the big lifting eyes on the back.

As for rope, a thick thread/thin string (eyeball it) will do.....stain it a brown-yellow. You see lifting some eyes on the rear deck.. (round or triangular) tap a hole on each side and loop the string under as if it were actually under the ring....or remove the ring and make one to stand up....OR just glue the rope in position....idea is to give the optical impression that the rope is going through the ring, over and through the lifting handle of the can and to where you want to to secure it. A pair of cans on the rear deck will look good tied together against the last brace with a belt/rope through the handle down to a F-loop at the base of the cans.

Tarp, camo net, use rope and tie it off (at two points for one rolled as long as yours) to any convenient tie offs along the upper hull. There should be one by the gas filler cap. Generally, a tarp or camo net is heavy enought that it will sit where it is placed...just strap or rope it where it doesn't open up. On placing the net/tarp, make sure it is not in the way of the turret movement. The rear of the deck on the rear sponson (stowage) boxes is a good place...and it will also help cover the 2 holes left when you remove the boxes that are there.
