Default RE: Servo selection time and questions

Mister Bean, [8D]

I know of one person that was using the newer brushless Futaba servos at a Tucson jet fly we went to a couple months ago... It was on an ARF - I'm not sure why he would've needed brushless servos, but I guess if he's happy, I'm happy. Do you really need 500 oz-in of torque though? Sounds like it may be way overkill for what I think will be a first jet? What is the servo torque requirement per the model instructions?

Also, I'm looking thru a Tower catalog right now (I need to order a receiver) and the flier I'm paging thru (good thru June 2011) does not even list a BLS157 as available, so it must be a pretty new item.

I also would comment that I don't think JR is necessarily "the standard"... It is just an available brand as much as Futaba, Hi-Tec, Airtronics, etc.

No intent here to flame at all... [8D]
