Ground running on a new engine does not allow for adequate cooling. Run the engine only for the length of time required to set the needles, then go fly.

I ran mine in by starting up, allowing for 60sec warmup up at 2500rpm, then up to full throttle for 60 sec to set the high speed needle, then down to idle to set the low. then back up to full throttle for 60sec and back to idle for 60sec. then up to 4000rpm for 60sec back to idle.
This was merely to ascertain whereabouts 4000 rpm would be on the Tx J1 throttle stick setting.

I have flown the engine since. First tank full not exceeding 4000rpm or thereabouts, 2nd tank full at WOT and back to 4000rpm in 30 sec cycles for 15min.
Repeated with tanks 3 to 10. I Limited verticals to around 3secs and then back to idle.

Its still breaking in but the performance is walking into the bar now. All flights has been conducted with either JXF 16x 8 Beech or Xoar 16X 8
I have a couple of JXF 17x8 to try once I have completed the first 5L but it does take a while to get through 5L!
