I agree on the Sticks. I wished I had trained on one because they are easier to fly than any trainer is. But the OP said he wanted a low wing plane, which is why I recommended the 4 Star and Tiger. If you want something scale, you might consider a Ryan PT19/PT20 or a T28 Trojan. Both were originally military trainers and as models are fairly docile.
