Howdy everyone,
Iam trying to get back into RCplanes and need help figuring out which plane to get. Ihave flown a trainer a while back so Iknow the basics. Would like to step up to the next level and am trying to decide on a plane. Ihave been thinking about a Super Sportster 40 or the Escapade either in 40 or 60 size. Iprefer the larger size as there is always wind out here. Am looking for a lower wing model that still handles somewhat easy. Idid make the mistake a couple of years ago of getting an electric Edge 540. Found out quick that it was a bit more than Icould handle. Would these two planes be a fairly decent next step from a trainer and is there other planes Imight should look at? Thanks in advance for any help ya'll might can give me.

those are both very good ships as a second ship another plan bisic would be a ugly stik but it is mid wing and are alot more fun due to you can go tricycle or tail dragger just my 2 cents ok

If you want a low wing plane the two standard suggestions you'll see over and over are the Sig 4 Star and the Goldberg Tiger II. They are purpose built to be forgiving 2nd planes with low wing maneuverability. I've even known of one guy who trained on a 4 star.

You can't go wrong with a Big Stick. It's fun to fly, does great aerobatics and lands as slow as a trainer.
My 40 landed much smoother than my actual trainer. That's why they are so popular

I agree on the Sticks. I wished I had trained on one because they are easier to fly than any trainer is. But the OP said he wanted a low wing plane, which is why I recommended the 4 Star and Tiger. If you want something scale, you might consider a Ryan PT19/PT20 or a T28 Trojan. Both were originally military trainers and as models are fairly docile.

Thanks for everyone's advice, I will look into these other planes. I have about a month to decide and will take the time to look them all up.
Thanks again,

Stik, Stik, Stik...
It goes from Mild to Wild and Back at a flip of a switch.
It does well in winds, it is easy to repair, rugged, and a blast at fun fly events!
