It may or may not coincide with my wishes, but the next voting cycle I can show my disapproval. They are not in the job for life, they work for the dues paying members and have a vested interest it keeping us happy or they might be looking for another job.

They have the power on a temporary basis, it is not absolute or ever lasting, they serve at our whim.
