I don't know what a striker is, but it sounds like you've got a plan.  The pusher electric combat planes that I've seen had a mid body prop so there was a place behind the prop to attach streamer.  You could always get weedeater or heavy fishing line and make a loop from trailing edges or such to attach the line with, don't know which would be lighter, wire or the line.  There's going to be a point where the wire will be lighter and thinner then the thicker less stiff monofilment.
