It would be very nice to have some news about the pilots and the aircraft rather than the obsession with the women at the event. The only actual news coming out is on the Dutch web site

http://dutchjetteam.nl/

I see that some pilots have dropped out after static judging ..... which ones and why?
Was Marijn the only one to struggle to meet the weight limit?

Static judging finished at 18:30 local time Saturday and hopefully we will see a score sheet soon.

I personally would like to Thank Jim (RCJets63) (first photo) for taking the time to post his photos, Jim is the Lead Aircraft Safety Inspector of this event and has taken over a week of his time to volunteer to help out, just like all of the other volunteers at the event.
I was on site from Thursday at noon until Friday evening and all I can say is all of the volunteers are doing a fantastic job!, especially under the extreme heat conditions. I can tell you being on site and waiting for the official flights to take place was like watching paint dry. There was more action during the open flying and demo flights, but I understand that that is the way it is in competitive flying…so no big deal.

It’s too bad that you feel that there is an obsession with some of the photos posted, I think it’s a good human interest item and a way to fill in the gaps in the coverage.

The “Official” posting of the standings should come from the officials in charge of the event (anything else would be a rumor), and like was stated will be done in due time. I believe that the first order of business is the running of the event for the people who are actually on site.

From being on site I do know the inside side story why a team dropped out, but like I stated that information should come from the officials, what I can tell you is that volunteers bent over backwards to try to prevent them from dropping out.

I did appreciate the link to the Dutch web site, I had to laugh as they too posted a few photos of the Women of the WJM, along with some great info on their opinion of the McDonalds sauce to use with their Chicken McNuggets… they apparently didn’t like any of the sauces… I like the Sweat and Sour sauce myself! (see photo from their site)

I did meet a few members of the Dutch Team, what a great group of guys, Derk van de Vecht and his father were great to talk to.
I also meet Winfried Ohlgart at the Hotel bar Thursday evening…. Thanks for the Beer Winfried! I really enjoyed talking to you also.

Friday afternoon I was enlisted by Eric Clapp at the Jet Central booth to help a young gentleman build his Boomerang Sprint, he has had it for over a year and didn’t have anyone to help him, it was fun helping a young person (Lee) who has a desire to move into the Turbine aspect of our great hobby. I hope he gets his Boomerang finished soon so he can enjoy Turbine flight, we gave it a good effort Friday afternoon
All in all it was a fun event to visit; I wish I had more time to stay…
