David,
Here's a few pics of the the scratch Deception I just maidened while at the Asheville SPA contest a couple of days ago. It flew GREAT!!!

Greg,
almost missed this post. Very nicely done! And congrats on a successful maiden. So I take it you were overall happier with the foam core approach than the built up? I find foam yields straighter and truer wings but that is due to the builder... I like the fact that you can sand the pair in their shucks to identical dimensions - very hard to reproduce that with balsa wings, especially since there are no shucks.
BTW, what's the state of your Tipo? My 28 year project is finally completely framed up! Getting the anhedral stab located and permanently in place is a major hurdle. Once that was done, I continued to move forward. I'm working on some final glass work (rudder tip, wing chin block) before hitting some filler and primer. Was hoping to get primer on the wing center section today... that would be a monumental leap forward. I'll believe it when I see it. My goal now is to have the model fully painted by the end of the month and leave the flying surface covering and final setup for September... we'll see how it goes. I'm psyched!
David.
