Default RE: Figure, First Attempt

Guys:

Another source for figs that are 'close' to the same scale, and yea, I KNOIW I've posted it before, but this is THE guy who made Oddball from "Kellys Heroes" and Sgt. Guffy from " Battle of the Bulge "... Jimmy Flintstone. He also makes many other movie figs, like the Rocketeer, and his " kissin' kuzin " the Rocketease. And then there is the fat Elvis-like Burger King, and others (many seen on eBay w/o credit to him)

And he is a GREAT guy to deal with. Last time I ordered, there was a glitch, and he made up for it in ~spades~. Sent me my fig, plus a whack of extras. He is A+ to deal with, and apart from that slight glitch, never been a problem to deal with.

You can buy his stuff [link=http://www.jimmyflintstonestudios.com/onlinestore/sunshop/index.php]HERE[/link], or for his raunchier figs, his moniker is Dr. Flintbone.

Just pay sttention to the scale, eh? 120mm is a bit tall in 1/16 (1.92m or 6' 3.6") but my Guffy fig is more like 1/16. the 1/18 ~may~ be a tad small, but the commercial Joes are roughly 1/18.

Just remember, take any measurement im mm, and multiply x 16 for 1:1 height, but any scale 1/?? multiplys up. (100mm would make the fig 1m 60cm or 5' 3" tall, but a 1/18 at 4" tall would be 72" aka 6') Easiest Q to ask is: how tall is the fig if standing. 4.5" should be right for 1/16 (6 ft) but a bit smaller is ok - tankers tended to be the smaller ones - Schultz would never have fit thru the hatch, and Klink would constantly be banging his head.

As for the figs, and glueing/ painting the resin - I've found that inserting pins into the joints (drill a small hole ~slowly~, resin slags like styrene) and THEN use glue. And BTW: MEK DOES work on resin. And you can melt some of the flash-shavings in a glass bottle with MEK for putty! Figured that trick out workin on my JF figs. As for paint, go to a hobby shop and get the base coat they sell for the plastic & lead figs for W40k and other figs. It works a treat on resin. I'm also told the flat Rustoleum is a decent paint, NOT the primers. Then just use the others over top - the matt hobby-fig stuff is best, givesd a faint texture for the other paint to grab onto. Swore by it when I had my BalttleTech minis.
