Default RE: new engine

quick question, i have a old discontinued thunder quake that has a torq .21 engine and it is starting to go because it overheats and and does not idle, no matter what tune i have it and i have resealed it i dont know how many times. Any way, whats a good .21 engine? also it needs to have a slide carb, not a roto. I just dont know what engine are good and what are horible. -thank you
My brother in law had a thunder quake with the same engine. IMO, a .21 engine isn't big enough for a 1/8 scale monster truck. The Losi 350 engine is a .20ci small lock engine which I do not think will have enough oomph for the T-Quake. I think a dynamite Mach 427 or Losi 454 would be a good powerplant for that truck. They are modestly priced RTR engines that run well and tune nicely. If you're a good tuner and want to spend more money, a Picco .28 would be a good higher end engine.

The Mach 427 is a .26ci and the Losi 454 is a .28ci. LRP has good engines, but are made by the same factory as the Mach/Losi/dynamite engines. The exterior of the engines are different, but the lrp's cost more.
