Erik,
It is a good idea to use the inlet extension as a tool to align the inlets and hold them together when installing the inlet ducts. I think that is what you might be doing in your photos.
The inlet extension is supposed to be glued to the front end of the bypass tube, not to the inlet ducts. Please see page 63 of the manual, under the heading "BYPASS".

The inlet extension is to be used full length (3") for the small engines (P-60, Rabbit, etc.) and cut to 2" if you are using a large case engine such as the P-80 or P-120.

The new instruction sheet is in work at BVM for installation of the P-100 engine, (included with the P-100 bypass tube system) and should be available in the next few days.
I am sure that the P-100 will be a popular Mk II installation.
