The zoom shouldn't be a problem. When my flying buddy was doing some filming he was losing the plane all the time due to zooming in too close. The zoom is quite powerful with 130 X when set at max. To try and correct this, we set the camera at about the 3/4 zoom and we left it there. The camera has auto focus so the end result was quite good (imho).
