I'm working on a couple of kits which will likely be followed up by a few plans-built projects. I thought it would be helpful to start a thread where we can provide links to websites for obtaining various building supplies and parts where the goal is to save a bunch of money.
For example, I can go to my LHS or one of the online R/C suppliers to buy a bottle of Top Flite micro balloons. They are roughly $5 for 0.71 ounces (by weight). Or I can go to Wicks Aircraft (
www.wicksaircraft.com) and order a 1 pound bag for about $9. In other words, I can get 22 times the micro balloons for less than twice the price.
