Additional Item for Red's Stack-Up
Hey Red:
Here is another item for a District's Stack-Up.
Personal snail mail Contact:
Sandy is contacting District VIII members by personal snail mail. They do not have to be either a Club Officer, Contest Director or a Leader member. They are getting personal letters telling them of the great performances of Sandy Frank as the D-8 VP.
Sandy mentions that he is being opposed by Mike Moss. Obviously he does not consider Jim Branum or H. Cain any significant threat as he fails to mention their names.
Now using the figure of some 18,000 AMA members in D-8, that brings postage alone to some $6,660.00 +/- plus printing and handling. If Sandy is covering this cost personally, then good for him.
However if he is using it as advertising the SWAC, then SWAC profits may cover Sandy's show, even though Sandy uses his position and his magazine space to also advertise SWAC.
Of course this individual Personal Contact could also be considered a VP's duty and therefore be covered under his AMA Travel Budget. After all it is Personal Contact with the District Members.
In any case, SF has established something new for a VP's keeping-in-touch so I will bet that it isn't the last time such will be employed. A VP has access to membership lists and such where a regular member does NOT. (I was refused a list of Leader Members last year.) So, Red, as I have said before, "Watch ol' JM's hat. It may be a small hat however it houses many rabbits."
Hmmmm! Wonder if he slipped one to SF?
Here is a VP making Personal Contact at Chicago show circa 1980.
